Dial up services
 
We provide access via Sri Lanka Telcoms (SLT) Internet service. Once you have made a PPP connction to the internet, using supplied software, you can send and recieve email, browse the web, read and post to various special conferences provided by the APC Network.
You can also connect to our direct dial modems to access our FidoNet system where you can send email and recive LankaNet conferences.

Email and Conferences
 
These are the two most important services that LankaNet offers. You can send email to anyone who has an email address anywhere in the world.
Conferences are notice boards based around specific subjects. There are more than 1,000 of them covering subjects in areas such as; human rights, acid rain, road building, Indonesia and green politics. You can write your own messages and/or respond to what others have written. All the conferences are carried by APC nodes around the world. To help you find your way around there is a conference which lists conferences by topic and you can also search for topics within a conference.
 
We hope that you will then be able to download and browse conferences using a friendly offline Windows news reader.

Internet Access
 
LankaNet now offers full internet access via SLT. You can now browse the web, read news, get that file from an ftp site, and have the benefits of an easy to use Windows mail program.
You will need additional software to access the internet. LankaNet will supply, install, and give you some initil training to get you on your way.
They consist of various shareware packages which we have put together.
 
Training
 
LankaNet can provide training either at our offices or on-site training. Training is geared to the needs of the users. We can do basic training, for users using the Internet for the first time and more advanced training, for users who know the basics. We can also offer training on accessing the internet and the tools you will need.
